Summer Advance Youth Leadership Academy
In collaboration with the Office of School Climate and Safety: Safety Programs, Incident Management, and Recovery Operations, Philly Project P.R.I.D.E. Inc. embarked on an adventure to create and disseminate a quality Resource Guide to families in Germantown.
Participating students represented several schools (Bartram, Germantown, Sayre, CHAD): worked tirelessly through a six week academic and leadership development curriculum in hopes of becoming advocates for families in need.
Program participants were exposed to research, interviewing and Spanish lessons with the intent on interviewing and creating biographies about business owners, artists, and administrators in regard to their profession and connection to the Germantown community.
Ultimately, we want the reader to become more informed about several issues that plaque our families such as violence, HIV/AIDS, STDS and more. Even though we presume a low sense of awareness about the previously mentioned subject matters, we contend that increased understanding and knowledge as well as referrals to available resources may alter our current state of affairs from death and despair leadership and advocacy
Please take a moment to review some of the components of our Resource Guide.
"Learning is more than a ten month experience. Young people need to get involved in academic and social programs that can propel you to reaching your goals in life. "
